Interesting Notes about Flowering Dogwood:

The flowers on the native Dogwood are actually greenish-yellow clusters that are above modified leaves called bracts. The bracts are the showy part of the bloom period and will last at least 2-3 weeks in the spring. Berries will follow, and these attract both birds and other wildlife.
