This tree has fragrant spring flowers, unique leaf shape for a maple, colorful seeds and leaves in the fall, and is adaptable to poor soils, which would make one ponder why it is not used more in the landscape or as a street tree.

Interesting Notes about Tatarian Maple:

As a small to medium tree, Tatarian Maple is similar to the Amur Maple but is slightly taller with larger leaves.  It is adaptable and hardy, but the leaf is not lobed as is the Amur Maple, and the Tatarian Maple has a single stem rather than a multi-stem form. The tree does produce fruit which are referred to as samaras (or helicopters) that mature in fall.
