This Red Maple retains green foliage well into fall and the rest of the season the tree displays red flowers, red stems and orange to red fall foliage.

A good shade tree for the large lawn, plus it is faster growing than Sugar or Norway Maples, but slower than Silver Maple.  Best in eastern and central Kansas.

Interesting Notes about Red Maple:

Red Maple is a fast-growing tree that is popular as a shade tree, but is especially desired for its rich fall color.  The tree prefers moist soils and it might be necessary to irrigate to support the general health of the tree, plus adequate water will help to achieve the best fall color.  The tree does produce fruit which are referred to as samaras (or helicopters) that mature in fall.
