An attractive shade tree that has unique bicolor leaves and showy fall color.

Interesting Notes about Swamp White Oak:

Swamp white oak grows naturally in low-lying wet areas, but in the home landscape will tolerate drought.  Though this oak does prefer acidic soils it will tolerate slightly alkaline soils, but it may develop iron chlorosis if soil is too sweet as is the case for soils of central and western Kansas.  The species name of 'bicolor' is attributed to the leaf color being green on top surface and silvery underside.
