Tips for Homeowners:

Prune as needed after flowering (leave flowers to allow for berries in the fall).  This shrub does have a tendency to sucker and colonize.  Another Arrowwood variety in the near vicinity will help to cross pollinate and will increase berry production (for birds).

This large, upright shrub will take up some space in the landscape, and it will provide equal shares of interest in all 4 seasons.

  • Vase-shaped habit with arching branches

Interesting Notes about Arrowwood Viburnum:

Versitile and durable only partially describe this shrub because it can withstand very tough conditions.  It can handle heavy soils, high pH, and drastic changes in the weather and look good doing it.  The white flowers in spring are followed by clusters of blue fruit that are not edible for humans, but are certainly a delicacy for birds.
